
Baseball Hall of Famer Andre Dawson presents a message of the role faith played in his career during the Annual South Central Missouri Fellowship of Christian Athletes Awards Banquet.
The event, held April 17 at Big Cedar Lodge, included Dawson telling stories about his 21 seasons in Major League Baseball, primarily with the Montreal Expos and Chicago Cubs. Dawson also pointed out the role faith played in his success, saying it was key in his coming up through the minor leagues and continued when he arrived in the big leagues.
The ceremony also included the awarding of annual honors. The South Central Mo FCA Coach of the Year was Dan Jones, who is currently Tennis Coach and Clever with earlier stops including a stint as Reeds Spring Boys Basketball Coach. The Athletes of the Year were Jerrett Walls of Forsyth and Lorelei Vanderhoef of Cassville.
