A record breaking baseball season for the Branson Pirates has ended while the Forsyth Panthers quests to advance in the State Tournament begins this week.
Branson Falls in Class 5 District Title Game
The Pirates advanced to a District Championship game for the first time since 2013 but were not able to claim the title, as they fell 6-0 to Willard in the finals Saturday at Pirate Park. Both teams were limited to three hits but while the Tigers limited their free passes on the bases to four, the Pirates gave up nine combined walks and hit-by-pitches which Willard converted into their six runs. The Pirates finish their season with a record 26 wins and claim a District Runner-Up Plaque for the first time since winning their last title in 2013.
Forsyth Plays in State Tournament
The Forsyth Panthers will play in the Class 3 State Tournament for the third time in four years, this year opening up in the Sectional Game Tuesday at Lamar. The Panthers will look to advance past this round after falling in the quarterfinals their last two appearances. The game is scheduled to begin at 5:00 and can be heard online at MOARK Sports Dot Com.
