
The host teams split their first games in the four-day National Christian College Athletic Association Division One Basketball Tournament at College of the Ozarks.
The women, the tournament’s second seed, pulled away in the second half to defeat the University of Northwestern from Minnesota 77-54. Logan Jones led College of the Ozarks with 15 points while adding five rebounds and four steals while Susie Moran recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, the seventh seeded C of O Men nearly pull off an upset in overtime, but fall to Nelson University of Arizona 93-92. The game saw many momentum swings but the visitors from Arizona, hit a three-point shot in the final 30 seconds to force the game to overtime then after losing a five-point overtime advantage after a acrobatic basket and a free throw by the Bobcats Garrett Snyder gave them a one point lead in the final 15 seconds, the Warriors nearly turned the ball over but eventually got it into the lane and hit a basket for the game winner. Snyder lead the Bobcats with 36 points while Andrew Dalton added 26.
The two eight-team tournaments will continue with consolation and semi-final games today. The C of O Men will play Houghton University of New York in a consolation game at 1:45 while the Lady Bobcats take on Oakland City University of Indiana in a semi-final game at 5:15.
