As the Cal Ripken Major 70 World Series enters the final stages at Ballparks of America, the Lakes Area Representative remains in the competition.

The Branson/Central Ozarks team went extra innings in the Iron Bracket to defeat Australia 5-4 to advance to the quarterfinal round today. Branson will face-off against Middle Atlantic this morning at 11:30 with a win in that game sending them to the semi-finals this afternoon at 2:00.

The other area teams have been eliminated from the competition. After Hot Spring was eliminated Wednesday, the team that knocked them out, Dover NH, knocked out Arkansas' other team from Bryant 7-2 while the other Missouri team, Booneville, was eliminated from the tournament by Glen Allen, VA 10-1.

The four teams remaining alive in the Championship Bracket are Honolulu and Ohio Valley from the United States along with Japan and Taiwan internationally.
