The Forsyth Panthers upset of top-seeded Strafford in Monday's Class 2 District Softball Tournament earns them a rematch with last year's title game opponent.
The fourth seeded Lady Panthers scratched out their second straight close win, 4-2 over the Lady Indians, to move on to the finals against sixth seeded Sparta, who is on a run of their own having knocked off the three and two seeds to notch a spot in the title game. The difference on the scoreboard turned out to be a two-run homer hit by Lili Roberts in the fourth inning. Lindsey Essary, the Lady Panther leader in homers, did not leave the park on Monday but did knock in two runs in addition to striking out six from the circle to earn the win.
Sparta beat Forsyth 3-2 in the title game last season.
This afternoon's contest begins at 5:00 and can be heard live on MOARK Sports Dot Com.
