H.S. Football Recap: Branson Holds Off West Plains, Remains Undfeated

A recap of the Friday Night High School Football Action saw Branson remain perfect holding off West Plains, Reeds Spring pitching a shutout, and Forsyth dropping a close game to a surging Clever program.

Branson 46 West Plains 21
The visitors from Howell County gave the Pirates all the could handle, getting momentum several times only to see the Pirates hold on and take their fourth win.

Twice Branson was looking to extend 10 point leads only to see the Zizzers return a freak fumble 70 yards for a score then hold the Pirates out of the end zone on the opening drive of the second half. The tide began to turn back in the Pirates favor early in the fourth quarter, leading 24-21, the Pirates scored the final 22 points of the game. The barrage of points began on a Luke-McCormick to Teagan Asbury pass then on the next possession for West Plains, Hunter Reynolds returned an interception for a touchdown then after a blocked punt, Smith Quigg finished a short drive with a 2-yard-run.

The Pirates are 4-0 for the first time since 2007 when the started the season 6-0.

Reeds Spring 28 Catholic 0
The Wolves smothered the Irish in Springfield, allowing only two total yards the entire evening to take their third win in four outings.

Clever 27 Forsyth 26
In a game that stayed close throughout, the home Blue Jays got the final score as they got a touchdown with just under two minutes left then held off the Panthers to get the victory. The Blue Jays returned the opening kick-off for a touchdown with the Panthers coming right back to score on the opening drive which set the tone for the whole game. While Forsyth falls to 2-2, Clever has now equaled the total number of wins in this season as they had in their first four years of the football program. The Blue Jays won three games over their first two seasons, then were winless the past two. The Blue Jays now stand 3-1 for the 2024 season.
