High School Football Recap: Mix of Blowouts, Close Games

A pair of homecoming games were among those for the MOARK High School Football teams on Friday.

Branson 55 Parkview 6
The Pirates homecoming effort got off to a rough start as the visiting Vikings got a 79 Yard Touchdown strike from Willie Otto to Eric McGinnis on the third play of the game, then forced a miss on a Pirate Field Goal to lead for much of the first quarter. The momentum changed when the Pirates Special Teams forced a shanked punt which led to a short field and the first of five touchdown runs by Quarterback Luke McCormick. On the next Parkview series, the Pirates forced a fumble that was picked up and taken to the end zone by Zyere Fair and the rout was on. McCormick rushed for over 80 yards on scoring runs alone, including a 57 yard scoring dash on the first play of the third quarter. Branson remains undefeated at 5-0 for the season. 

Buffalo 44 Hollister 42
In a game that was back and forth all night, the visiting Bison got the final score, punching it in the end zone in the final 30 seconds then holding off a late Tiger surge to secure the win. Hollister had one last chance to in their homecoming way, but KK Conway was kept out of the end zone in the final second to preserve the Buffalo win.

Strafford 35 Reeds Spring 26
Another close game saw the hometown Wolves play with state ranked Strafford the whole evening, The game was tied at 14 at halftime with Strafford holding a slim lead 21-20 at the end of the 3rd. Late in the game, the Wolves trailed by only two but failed to covert late in the game leading the Indians getting an insurance touchdown in the final minute.

Forsyth 48 Catholic 9
The Panthers gave up an early field goal to the Irish, but then scored finished the game scoring 48 points while the Irish's only other score game on a kick-off return. The Panthers go to 3-2 entering next week's Lakes Area Match-up at Reeds Spring. 

Alma 26 Harrison 14
The Goblins are still in search of their first victory for 2024 as the Airdales pull away in the second half to secure the win.
