A Hollister Student will represent the High School at a national conference this summer.
The Press Release below is from the Hollister School District:
Hollister High School junior Addison Wilson has been selected to represent Hollister, MO, as a National Youth Correspondent at the 2025 Washington Journalism and Media Conference, which will be held at George Mason University from July 7 to July 12.
Wilson joins a select group of students from all over the country for an intensive study of journalism and media. Wilson was chosen based on academic accomplishments and a demonstrated interest in excellence in journalism and media studies. National Youth Correspondents participate in hands-on, experiential learning through decision-making simulations that challenge them to solve problems and explore the creative, practical, and ethical tensions inherent in journalism and media. The experiential portion of the program is complemented by speakers who are well-known leaders in the media community. Presenters include prominent journalists, CEOs of major media outlets, researchers, and recent college graduates successfully entering the field.
Dr. Jared Terry, Hollister High School Principal, is incredibly proud of Addison for earning a place in this prestigious conference. "This is a fantastic opportunity for her to showcase the hard work, dedication, and skill we see in our HHS halls every day," Terry said. "Addison is an outstanding student and a great representative of Hollister High School. We have no doubt she will excel here as well, and we can't wait to see what the future holds for her!"
Addison Wilson shared her excitement about the opportunity, saying, "It's hard to put into words how grateful I am for this opportunity to attend the nation’s capital and be part of such a prestigious conference. My goal is to pursue a career in law and journalism, and this experience will give me valuable insight into my future. I’m incredibly honored to have been nominated for this conference and truly appreciate the support."
