For the MOARK Football schools Friday night, the teams with a "0" on their record each gained a big win.
For the Branson Pirates, that means the continuation of their undefeated season as the Class 5 seventh ranked Pirates get a road win, jumping on Carl Junction for a 40-7 Ozark Mountain Conference victory. The Pirates scored in every mode, five touchdowns with extra points along with a 46-yard Dane Efird field goal and a safety late in the game after a bad Bulldog punt snap. Two of the touchdowns were by back-up quarterback Jr Pastrona, who had filled in on the first drive for starter Luke McCormick then returned to the game for good after McCormick was injured on a touchdown run of his own. Blake Webber and Teagan Asbury each had rushing touchdowns as well as the Pirates move to 7-0 and are a win away from clinching at least a share of the first OMC Football title.
Meanwhile, after Harrison lost their opening game of the season at Branson, the Goblins had struggles, losing some close games and going 0 for 5 in trying to notch a win. The Goblins started the second half of the season erasing that zero, rolling to a 42-0 homecoming win over Clarksville. The Goblins slowly built the lead scoring a touchdown each in first and second quarter, then blowing the game open with a pair of touchdowns each in the final two periods for the breakthrough win.
It was a tough night for the other MOARK Teams. For Forsyth, they had a homecoming battle against Strafford with the Panthers having a 33-28 late third quarter lead, but the Indians scored the final 21 points of the game to earn a 49-33 win.
Both Hollister and Reeds Spring dropped road games, the Tigers at Clever 28-12 with the Wolves getting knocked down by Class 2 Number One Ranked Fair Grove 49-8.
