Area Schools in postseason basketball play fall into three categories: Those continuing, those eliminated, and those beginning tournament play.
Continuing
In the Arkansas State Basketball Championships those teams advancing include Bergman's Boys and Girls with wins in the 3A State Tournament at Elkins. The boys beat LISA Academy North 62-46 while the girls knocked off Dover 58-35. Both teams will advance to the quarterfinals on Friday.
After wins on Monday, two area teams in Missouri are back in District action tonight. Reeds Spring plays Rogersville at 6:00, Hollister takes on Mountain Grove at 7:30 in the Class 4 Girls District Semi-finals in Mountain Grove.
Eliminated
Three teams in Missouri were eliminated as Blue Eye lost to College Heights in Joplin 61-51 in the Class 2 Boys Sectional Game while Hollister and Reeds Spring dropped opening round games at the Class 4 District in Rogersville. The Tigers lost to Clever 44-30 while the Wolves rally fell short dropping a 40-37 contest to Ava.
In Arkansas, both area teams playing at the 1A State Tournament at North Arkansas College lost Tuesday. The Alpena Girls fell to Norfork 55-27 while the Jasper Boys lost to Marked Tree 56-38.
Beginning
Several area schools are in action at 1A State Tournament today. On the girls side, Kingston plays Marked Tree at 1:00, Jasper takes on Mammoth Spring at 4:00, and Omaha plays Concord at 7:00.
In the 2A Tournament at Mansfield, Cotter Girls play Parkers Chapel at 7:00.
Finally in Missouri, Branson opens play in the Class 4 District Tournament at Marshfield, with the third seeded Lady Pirates playing Springfield Hillcrest at 8:30. That game can be heard online at MOARK Sports Dot Com.
