Thursday
A tough day for area teams after several lost in tournaments though one advanced.
The team that had the best day was the Reeds Spring Lady Wolves, as they rolled to a 50-28 win over Hurley in the Galena Lady Bear Winter Classic. They play this afternoon in the championship game at 2:30 in a game that can be heard on MOARK Sports.
For the teams at the Spokane Tournament, it was losses for both Forsyth and Reeds Spring in the semifinals as they Panthers lost a tight game with Strafford 50-44 while the Wolves dropped a 54-36 contest to Greenwood. Forsyth and Reeds Spring will play for third this afternoon a 4:30 in a game that can be heard on MOARK Sports.
In other action, both Branson teams lost in tournament action out of the area. The Pirates played one of Missouri's top Class 5 teams close, but fell in the first round of the Bill Hanson Memorial Tournament in Pittsburg, Kansas 78-73 while the Lady Pirates lost in the semi-finals of the semi-finals of the Mid America Bank Osage Invitational 41-33. The Lady Pirates play Richland in the third place game today.
Friday
An all Lakes Region Match-Up was among the games on Friday heard on MOARK Sports which saw area teams have a good day.
In Blue Eye, the Bulldogs celebrated Homecoming with a tight 47-42 win over Hollister. Another tight, low scoring game occurred in Forsyth as the Lady Panthers notched a 44-42 win over Seymour to get victory number three on the year.
The Harrison Goblins remain undefeated in 5A West Conference play as they earn a 65-51 victory at Van Buren. Senior Cole Cecil went over the1,000-point mark for his career. The Lady Goblins had a tougher day as they dropped a 33-31 game to the home team.
In other action, Branson picked up a win over a former Central Ozark Conference foe as they defeated Joplin 71-41 in a consolation game at the Bill Hanson Memorial Tournament. The Pirates will complete play today in the tournament in Pittsburg, Kansas.
