Friday Football: Reeds Spring Claims Outright Conference Title, Other Results

The Reeds Springs claimed a share of the Big 8 East Conference Football Championship last week, this week, they made sure they wouldn't have to share it.

The Wolves take the title with a 35-34 overtime win at Mt Vernon Friday night. In a game that went back and forth all night long, the game went into overtime after the Wolves missed a potential game winning field goal. The final 20 yards of Preston Blubaugh's 209 yards rushing happened on the first play of overtime with the Wolves finishing it off with a Jace Bolin run finishing off the drive two plays later. On Mt Vernon's overtime possession, the Mountaineers scored in just two plays but a pass going for the two-point conversion and the win was intercepted by Caden Wiest preserving a one point victory for the Wolves, who also clinched the top seed in the Class 3 District 6 Playoffs and will have next week off before opening play in two weeks.
