HS Football Recap: Forsyth Wins First Conference Championship

In its sixth full season of playing Varsity Football, the Forsyth Panthers claim their first Conference Championship.

The Panthers, as they have done in several games this season, fall behind early, but then come back to win in front of the home crowd Friday night outlasting Strafford 35-23 to claim the outright Mid-Lakes Conference Championship. After the Indians took a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, the Panthers outscored Strafford 21-3 to take the lead at halftime then scored two more times to put the game away. The Panthers are 6-1 overall as they hit the road to play at Butler next Friday before closing out the regular season at home in two weeks against Springfield Central. 

In other action, the Reeds Spring Wolves rebound after their loss last week as they role by Aurora 44-7 to go  to 4-2 and maintain their lead in their Class 3 District. .

The Branson Pirates and Hollister Tigers had a tough night both falling on the road. The Pirates fell behind by 20 points and rallied to cut the lead to five in the fourth quarter before Republic held on for a 33-21 win while the Tigers fell at Mount Vernon 37-7.

It was also a rough night for several of the area teams in northern Arkansas including the Harrison Goblins, who lost at Shiloh Christian 55-14. Berryville also lost on the road at Elkins 56-7 while Green Forest fell at Gentry 48-8.
