Thursday Baseball: Branson Ends Losing Streak, Harrison Teams Fall

Action on MOARK Sports Dot Com Thursday included the end of a losing streak for Branson Baseball.

After the Pirates won their first eight games of the season, they since had only a 4-12 record including seven losses in a row entering Thursday's contest at Neosho. It was the second time this week the Pirates faced an opposing team with a Branson connection as Neosho Head Coach Bo Helsel along with his brother and assistant coach Tee Helsel were both standouts for the Baseball Pirates. Unlike the match-up earlier this week with the Logan Hughes led Nixa team, the Pirates got the upper hand scoring two runs in the second and extending the lead from there in a 7-2 win. Heath Cole and Lance Strahan each had a pair of hits and two RBI in the game as the Pirates go to 13-12 and finally notch their first Central Ozark Conference win of the season.

Meanwhile, the Harrison Baseball Goblins lose in the 4A-1 District Semi-finals at Jack Williams Field, as top seed Farmington used big first and second innings to cruise to a 10-2 win and move on to this afternoon's championship game against Shiloh Christian, who upended Huntsville 11-2 in the other semi-final. The Goblins will play in the 4A-1 Regional Tournament next week in Morrilton.

The Harrison Lady Goblins Softball team lost their semi-final game at Cavenders Field to Gravette and will play for third place this afternoon at 4:00. The Lady Goblins will also play in the 4A Regional next week at Morrilton.

In other district action in Harrison today, the Soccer Goblins host Subiaco Academy in a 6:00 match at FS Garrison Stadium.
