Winter Storm Watch For Lakes Area Wednesday, Thursday

National Weather Service Forecasters say the Lakes Region could see some icy conditions Wednesday and Thursday.

The weather service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for northwest and north central Arkansas Wednesday morning through Thursday with the boarder counties of Missouri being added to the Watch at Noon on Wednesday through Thursday.

The forecast calls for heavy mixed winter precipitation in the form of freezing rain, sleet, and snow to begin Wednesday morning in Arkansas extending into Missouri late morning with possible quarter to half inch ice accumulation possible with a sleet and snow accumulation of around an inch.

The ice could cause some tree limbs to fall and also cause some power outages. The Weather Service goes on to say that travel could be nearly impossible at times and the storm will affect the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.

After the first system dropped one to two inches of rain in parts of the Lakes Region early this morning, the precipitation will end but temperatures will drop during the day bringing in much colder air in advance of Wednesday expected Winter Storm. A Flood Warning remains in effect for areas east of Branson in Taney, Ozark, and Douglas Counties until 6:00 this evening.
