Galena joined four other area schools at the Class 1 District Volleyball Tournament hosted by the Lady Bears.
Three days of competition took place which saw Billings defeat Blue Eye and Crane knock off Hurley in the opening round before the two winners advanced to the semifinals to take on the top seeds Galena and School of the Ozarks. The Lady Bears and Lady Patriots knocked off their opponents to set-up a championship match which was won by Galena in three games.
Galena has compiled a 33-1-1 record during the season and will now advance to the Class 1 Sectional on Thursday against the winner of the District Title in the tournament being played at Verona. The Lady Wildcats along with Thomas Jefferson, College Heights, and McAuley Catholic are the teams remaining in that tournament with the championship match scheduled for Tuesday.
