Hollister makes a run during the School of the Ozarks Volleyball Tournament last weekend.
The Hollister High School varsity volleyball team went undefeated in pool play, beating Greenwood 2-0, Pleasant Hope 2-0, and Hurley 2-0. They went 5-1 for the day, placing second, beating Mansfield in the quarterfinals 2-0, School of the Ozarks in the semifinals 2-1, and lost to Spokane in the championship 0-2.
Stat leaders for the tournament were senior Olivia Williams with 31 kills, 11 aces, 5 blocks, 36 assists, and 29 digs, sophomore Ellanna Newell with 27 kills, 7 blocks, 32 digs, sophomore Isabella Parrish with 11 aces, and 29 digs, and sophomore Gracyn Jones with 57 assists.
Coach Molly Terry shared that the team showed the true essence of determination and unity. "Going undefeated in pool play and securing victories in the quarterfinals and semifinals was a testament to their unwavering spirit," she said. "While we fell short in the championship, these athletes exemplified resilience, and I couldn't be prouder of their accomplishments."
With an overall to-date season record of 6-5, the Tigers will compete in the Cabool Tournament on September 16 and will compete at home against Monett on September 18.
