After five years, the Branson Lady Pirate Softball program breaks through with a District Tournament win.
2017 was the last time the Lady Pirates won a District Softball game prior to their 10-0 win over Hillcrest in Tuesday Class 4 Opening round game at Springfield Glendale High School.
The Lady Pirates beat Hillcrest twice in the regular season, thought the second game was a one run win, and the Lady Hornets kept pressure on the Lady Pirates, getting three hits in the first inning and also loading the bases with one out later in the game. The Lady Pirates behind pitcher Sierra Dailey worked around those jams before finally breaking the game open.
After scoring two runs in each of the first two innings, the Lady Pirates used a five-run fifth inning and picked up a run in the sixth to get the run rule win. Brooklyn Davis and Leanne Glenn each had three hits to pace Branson, who will face West Plains in the semi-finals of the District Tournament this evening at 6:30. That game can be heard on the MOARK Sports Website.
Meanwhile in Cassville, the Reeds Spring Lady Wolves also pick up a big win as the roll by Eldon 10-1 in their opening game of the Class 3 District Tournament. The win sends the Lady Wolves to the semi-finals on Thursday against the top seed and host Lady Wildcats.
