Forsyth Outlasts Sparta for Tournament Title

In a game that saw major momentum changes, the Forsyth Lady Panthers found a way to get the game to overtime and grab a 55-53 win over the host team at the Sparta Girls Tournament.

The Lady Trojans and Lady Panthers were the top two seeds in the tournament and rolled into the finals. The game started well for Forsyth as they scored the games first 11 points with Sparta then getting their offense going and getting the lead by halftime. 

The second half saw the Lady Trojans take control and build a 13 point lead. Sparta lead 47-34 with 4:14 left but then only scored two points the rest of regulation as Forsyth finished on a 15-2 run to get the game to overtime. 

In overtime, Macy Sanders scored two of her game high 22 points while McKenzie Calhoun and Lindsey Essary each hit free throws to help the Lady Panthers secure the win. 

Sanders along with Savannah Koen were named to the All-Tournament team with Annabelle Barrickman was named the Tournament's Most Valuable Player.

In other games, Hollister takes 5th Place pulling away from Springfield Greenwood 55-39. Brisa Gere, also a member of the All-Tournament Team, scores 29 points to lead the the Lady Tigers to the win. Also Saturday, Bakersfield takes seventh over Gainesville 41-23 while Norwood takes the third place game over Hartville 52-42.
