Missouri Sports Hall of Fame Football Inductions Have Lakes Area Connections

The Football Induction for the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame earlier this week includes some Lakes Area Inductions.

The honorees for this year's Elite 11 Team includes former Branson Pirate Lance Johnston, who was a member of the 1987 State Runner-up team and gained All-Conference and All-State Honors his senior year in 1988. Johnston went on to play College Football at Northwest Missouri State where he was an All-MIAA Selection.  Another Elite 11 Honoree was Mac Whitehead, who after an All-State Career at Seneca plus collegiate career at Southwest Baptist and Missouri Southern, spent the early part of his coaching career as an Assistant Coach for the Branson Pirates.

Also honored during the ceremony were the 2008 and 2009 State Championship Football Teams at Cassville coached by David Large, who is now the Athletic Director at Branson High School.
