MSHSAA Weekend Recap

Postseason Action in three different sports involved Lakes Area teams on Saturday.

Volleyball
The Blue Eye Lady Bulldogs run in the Class 1 State Volleyball Tournament was ended by South Iron as they lost in three games. Blue Eye had beaten Billings in the opening round of the tournament last week after claiming their third District Championship in four years. Teams from Southwest Missouri that did advance to the Final Four in Cape Girardeau including Miller in Class 1, Skyline Class 2, Strafford Class 3, and Rogersville in Class 4.

Soccer
The Branson Soccer Pirates won their opening round Class 3 District Game at Springfield Glendale Saturday shutting out Lebanon 8-0. The Pirates play Springfield Catholic in the semi-finals tonight with the winner to play in the District Championship Match on Wednesday. 

Cross Country 
In Class 2, Blue Eye claims the Girls District Championship at Clever, winning a District title for a fourth straight year despite moving up in classification. The previous three District Titles came in Class 1. Also claiming an individual medal was Riley Arnold, who again finished ahead of the field to take the individual race win. The Lady Bulldogs qualify as a team for the State Meet next weekend along with the Boys as they finished second behind Stockton in that competition. 

Clever also hosted the Class 3 meet which featured East Newton and Osage winning the Boys and Girls Team Titles respectively. Individual runners from Cassville and Hollister were among those moving on to the state meet. Clever also hosted a Class 1 District Meet with Fordland sweeping the Team Titles. Runners from Galena, Hurley, and School of the Ozarks were among those that qualified for the State Meet.

Bolivar hosted the area Class 5 District Meet with three runners from Branson moving on to the State Meet which is this Friday and Saturday in Columbia.
